President/CEO of Image Builders, Inc.,
``HERS IS A BUSINESS WHICH FEEDS ITSELF. THE MORE SUCCESSFUL SHE BECOMES, THE MORE EXPERIENCE SHE HAS TO USE FOR EVEN MORE ADVICE`` -ENTREPRENEURWEEK
Ms. DeNita Turner, President and CEO, founded Image Builders, Inc. with the idea of offering specialized personal enhancement programs that help clients establish a more effective and positive image. "You sell yourself with your image, use it," Ms. Turner is fond of saying. Image Builders delivers the "right prescription" to increase the resilience needed to compete in today's ever-changing environment.
A native of Richmond, Virginia, Ms. DeNita Turner is founder and CEO of Image Builders, Inc. Her future as an executive trainer and coach was determined at a young age as a result of being raised by two teachers and spending her early years as "the coach's daughter". More importantly though, her family taught her to believe in "treating people the way you want to be treated and working smart, not just hard". This combination of experiences and values led to a strong understanding of the correlation between sports and business and her desire to offer specialized enhancement programs that help clients establish a more effective and positive image.
Ms. Turner's upbringing was not the only factor that led to the creation of Image Builders. The company evolved out of the work she was doing during her 20-year career in sales and marketing at Fortune 500 companies, including Marriott International, Inc., McGraw-Hill, and the Coca-Cola Co. At Marriott, she worked in sales and marketing for 12 years, serving as Director of Communications and Training for the International Sales and Marketing department, where she was responsible for developing and implementing brand training for lodging in Tokyo, Sydney, London, Frankfurt and Latin America. Prior to this role, Ms. Turner created sales strategies for travel agents, government and corporate businesses as a Director for Courtyard/Fairfield Inn by Marriott; She held similar roles at McGraw-Hill and Coca-Cola.
After making her mark in the corporate world, Ms. Turner, with the blessing of executives at Marriott, left her Director role and incorporated her new company. Ms. Turner combined her sales and marketing experience with her passion for teaching, passed on by her parents, to create Image Builders. The company has since expanded beyond helping clients achieve a positive image to delivering personal and professional development programs to further enhance a client's ability to successfully and effectively achieve their goals. These new programs are referred to as "The Other Game,." a play on her extensive experience working with high performance and competitive individuals and teams.
Ms. Turner has seen much success since creating Image Builders. She has appeared on NBA Today/ESPN, Inside Stuff/NBC, The Toronto Star, AirTran Arrivals Magazine, The Washington Business Journal and others Among her clients is the National Basketball Association. She serves as a mentor to many executives and rising leaders throughout the country and even with her busy schedule, Ms. Turner finds time to travel, read, golf, speed walk and bake; she's known for arriving with one of her famous chocolate or pound cakes for clients.
