Doris H. Causey\, who served \;as the president of the Virginia State Bar for the 2017-18 term\, also is managing \;attorney of the Richmond office of the Central Virginia Legal Aid Society\, a non-profit law firm that provides free legal assistance to low income people in civil cases and preventive legal education.
She also serves on the Old Dominion Bar&rsquo\;s Executive Committee. She is a Virginia Bar Association Fellow\, a member of the Richmond Bar Association and a past member of the Bench Bar Conference. Her practice focuses on civil litigation\, family law\, landlord tenant\, foreclosure defense and poverty law. She also became the first African-American\, first legal aid attorney and fifth woman to lead the organization.

Ms. Causey is a graduate of the University of Mississippi\, where her mother\, Dorothy Henderson\, was the first African-American professor in the school&rsquo\;s Department of Education. She earned her law degree from Texas Southern University in Houston. She is married to Tracy L. Causey they have three children.
\n\nEach luncheon includes a fireside chat featuring an influential women in business. These quarterly luncheons are designed to provide training and networking opportunities for women professionals through open dialogue and full audience participation in a small\, intimate setting. Topics in the past include effective communication conflict management\, assertiveness\, self-fulfillment\, and upward mobility.
